2026 New Arrival Dior bag, Promenade Shopping Bag Review: Cute Bow, Clever Design… but Is It Worth the Price?

Among Dior’s Fall-Winter 2026-2027 bags, the Promenade Shopping Bag was one of those designs that made me look twice.

At first glance, it seems surprisingly simple for Dior. It has the familiar shape of an everyday shopper, without the instantly recognizable structure of a Lady Dior or the bold presence of a Book Tote. Then I noticed the little leather bow on the front.

And suddenly the whole bag felt different.

Designed by Jonathan Anderson, the new Dior Promenade seems to be aiming for something Dior has not always prioritized: a luxury bag that actually feels easy enough to carry every day. I’m still not sure everyone will love the bow, but the more I look at the bag, the more I understand why it is there.

Is the bow charming… or just a little too cute?

The leather versions feature Dior’s Flat Cannage motif, which looks noticeably cleaner and less formal than the traditional padded Cannage quilting.

I actually like that decision.

Traditional Cannage can immediately make a bag feel elegant and somewhat dressy. Here, the flatter treatment makes the Promenade easier to imagine with denim, oversized knitwear, a trench coat or a simple shirt.

Then there is that bow.

It is small, but impossible to ignore. Without it, the Promenade might almost look too ordinary for a Dior bag. With it, there is a slightly playful, feminine quality that makes the design recognizable.

Still, this is probably the detail that will decide whether someone loves or rejects the bag.

Recent reactions on Dior-related Reddit discussions are already divided. Some users think the Oblique version looks cute, while others are much less convinced by the Cannage leather version. There are even comments questioning whether the thin sliding straps will feel reassuring once the bag becomes heavy.

So apparently I’m not the only one hesitating.

Small size

The sliding handles might actually be the best part

What interests me more than the bow is the handle system.

Mini size

The leather handles slide through CD signature eyelets, allowing the bag to change proportions depending on how you carry it. The Small can be handheld, worn on the shoulder or carried crossbody.

That sounds like a minor detail, but it makes a big difference for an everyday luxury bag.

The Small measures 10.5 x 8 x 5 inches in the calfskin version and weighs about 21 ounces. Dior says it can hold a phone, card holder, sunglasses and lipstick, so I would think of it as a proper everyday handbag rather than a work tote.

The Medium is much more serious: 14.5 x 11.5 x 5.5 inches, with enough room for a 15-inch laptop, small tablet, wallet and other essentials.

Midium size

For commuting, the Medium makes more sense. Personally, though, I prefer the proportions of the Small. It still has that relaxed shopper shape without beginning to look like an office bag.

One drawback? The main closure is magnetic rather than a full zipper. Convenient, yes. Completely secure in crowded transportation or while traveling? Maybe not.

Oblique, leather or suede?

The material changes the personality of this bag more than I expected.

Blue Dior Oblique jacquard feels the most casual and recognizably Dior. It also gives the Promenade a slightly vintage mood, which works nicely with its soft structure.

Flat Cannage calfskin looks far more polished. Black or beige would probably be the easiest choices if I wanted one bag that could move between casual clothing and smarter outfits.

And then there is suede.

The khaki suede Medium is probably one of the most atmospheric versions for fall. It looks richer and softer, and somehow the bow makes more sense in suede. But suede on a large everyday bag always makes me nervous. Rain, corners, denim transfer, stains… suddenly that beautiful texture comes with a maintenance problem.

Beautiful? Definitely.

Carefree? Not exactly.

Now comes the uncomfortable part: the US price

As of August 2026, Dior US lists the Promenade Shopping Bag collection across a fairly wide price range.

The Dior Promenade Mini Shopping Bag in Oblique jacquard starts at $2,700. The Small Dior Oblique jacquard is $3,350, while the Small Flat Cannage calfskin and suede versions are $4,000.

The Medium Dior Oblique costs $3,600, while Medium Flat Cannage calfskin and suede versions reach $4,500.

So the current shopper lineup runs from $2,700 to $4,500.

At $3,350, I can understand the appeal of the Small Oblique. It gives you Dior branding, useful capacity and multiple ways to carry it without immediately reaching the upper end of Dior handbag pricing.

At $4,500 for the Medium leather or suede bag, though, I would think much harder.

Once the price gets there, the Promenade is no longer simply a cute, practical new shopper. It has to compete with other serious luxury-bag purchases.

So, would I actually choose one?

I think the Dior Promenade makes the most sense for someone who likes Dior but finds the Lady Dior slightly too formal and the Book Tote too obvious.

It feels younger without trying to look trendy, and more practical without becoming boring.

The bow is still my biggest question mark. Interestingly, it is also what stops the bag from looking generic. Some recent Reddit reactions have been quite harsh, with a few users saying parts of the new collection look cheaper than expected, while others specifically like the Promenade in Oblique and enjoy the more whimsical direction Jonathan Anderson is bringing to Dior.

My own opinion sits somewhere in the middle.

I wouldn’t call the Promenade an instant Dior icon yet. But it is one of those bags that becomes more interesting the longer I look at it.

And if I had to choose one?

Probably the Small Oblique.

At $3,350, it feels like the version where the price, practicality and slightly quirky new-Dior personality make the most sense. The leather version is prettier in a traditional luxury sense, but somehow the casual Oblique fabric suits the whole idea of a “Promenade” better.

Maybe that little bow isn’t such a problem after all….
