Fall 2026 New Chanel Flap Bag Review: I liked it.
When I first saw Chanel’s Fall-Winter 2026 Pre-Collection, this was the bag that made me stop scrolling. It has the familiar CC turn-lock and leather-woven chain, but the mood feels less polished than a classic black flap. The reference is AS6568-B25713-UD698.

What makes this one feel different?
At 5.3 x 9.6 x 2 inches, or 13.5 x 24.5 x 5 cm, it is longer and lower than the classic flap shape I normally picture. It almost leans toward a baguette silhouette, which makes it look younger and more casual.
Then there is the patchwork. Chanel combines beige, gray, red and black suede calfskin with gold-tone hardware. The mix sounds busy, yet the official photos feel more vintage than loud because the colors are muted.
That is probably what I like most. It has an archive-inspired character. A black Classic Flap can feel formal; this one seems happier with denim, knitwear, a trench coat or an oversized jacket.

Is the suede also the problem?
Probably, yes. The suede is what makes the bag interesting, but it is also what would make me hesitate. I would be more conscious of rain, rubbing and staining than with grained leather, especially with the lighter panels across the front.
The funny part is that the bag looks relaxed, but I would probably carry it carefully.
The 9.6-inch width gives it enough presence, while the slim 2-inch depth keeps it from looking bulky. I would think of it as a compact shoulder bag for a phone, cardholder, lipstick and a few essentials.

Does it feel like a Classic Flap alternative?
A recent r/chanel discussion comparing this 26B silhouette with a smaller 26A flap was interesting. Several commenters preferred the larger 26B proportions, and the thicker chain and wider shape were seen as giving it more of a classic-flap presence.
I can see why. The CC closure and chain immediately read as Chanel, but the horizontal silhouette keeps it from becoming a simple Classic Flap substitute. If I were buying my first Chanel, I would probably choose something more timeless. If I already owned the basics? This becomes much more tempting.

And then there is the $7,100 question…
The official U.S. retail price is $7,100.
That is serious money for a seasonal suede bag. At this price, I would have to genuinely love the patchwork. It is not the safest purchase, and it does not have the universal ease of a black flap.
Still, the price does not completely kill the appeal for me. Chanel is already in a range where practicality only gets you so far. What matters is whether the design feels special enough to choose over something safer.

Who would I recommend it to?
Not someone looking for one Chanel bag to work with absolutely everything. I see it more for someone who already owns a neutral Chanel, likes vintage-inspired styling, or wants a seasonal piece that will not disappear into a sea of black flap bags.
Cream outerwear, burgundy knits, washed denim, dark brown trousers… those autumn combinations seem almost made for it.

Would I buy it?
I like it more the longer I look at it. The patchwork could have become gimmicky, but the muted suede keeps it sophisticated. The long, low proportion gives the Chanel formula a different rhythm, while the thicker chain adds enough visual weight.
The downsides are obvious: suede needs attention, the colors are not universally easy, and $7,100 is a lot for a seasonal piece.
Even so, this is one of those Fall 2026 Chanel bags I would remember after closing the browser. It is expensive, slightly impractical and not the safest choice… but safe is not always the bag that keeps pulling your eyes back.
