Some Chanel bags feel like obvious choices. This one doesn’t.
The new Chanel Bucket Bag from the Fall-Winter 2026 Pre-Collection caught my eye because it looks softer and more relaxed than the usual structured Chanel styles. The dark beige suede, black calfskin, and gold-tone hardware give it a slightly vintage mood, which feels especially right for fall.
But then there’s the price: $6,700.
And for a suede bag, that definitely makes me think twice.
Why does it still look so good?
The bag measures about 9.1 x 9.1 x 5.7 inches, so it sits in a fairly practical middle ground. It isn’t tiny, and the bucket shape should make everyday essentials easier to carry than in many mini Chanel bags.
What really makes the design work, though, is the contrast between the beige suede and black leather. If it were all black, I’m not sure it would feel nearly as special.
This version seems made for fall outfits—knitwear, wool coats, denim, and loafers rather than anything too formal.
The suede is both the best and worst part
My biggest hesitation is obvious: maintenance.
Suede looks beautiful, but rain, stains, and color transfer can quickly become stressful. At $6,700, I’m not sure I would enjoy having to check the weather every time I wanted to carry it.
Interestingly, Chanel owners online seem divided in the same way. Some love the light weight and softer feel, while others worry about keeping the suede clean. There are also owners who feel suede can be less stressful than lambskin when it comes to small surface scratches.
So perhaps the problem isn’t that suede is impractical—it’s just a different kind of maintenance.
Would I buy it?
As a first Chanel bag, probably not.
At this price, I would prefer something more durable and easier to use every day. But if I already owned a Classic Flap or a simple black leather Chanel, this would suddenly become much more tempting.
It feels less predictable, more seasonal, and more personal.
The $6,700 price is hard to ignore, but the funny thing is that the suede is also exactly what makes the bag worth noticing.
So this probably isn’t the Chanel Bucket Bag you buy because it’s the safest choice.
You buy it because you can’t stop thinking about how good that suede looks.
